The Coffee Maker that Can Brew in Just 4 Minutes

My coffee maker is from the brand Bunn. They pride themselves on having advanced technology that can brew a whole carafe of coffee in 4 minutes!! The machine can do this because it removes the one thing that makes it take so long for the coffee to brew: heating the water.

The first time you brew a pot of coffee, it does take longer, and here is why. When you pour the first pot of water into the back of the machine, you have to let it sit. Like any other coffee maker, this is the part that takes the longest. Then, when you want to make a pot of coffee, add an additional carafe of water into the back and run it like any other coffee maker.

The machine rotates the water and starts brewing the pot of coffee from the first time you put water in. Every time after that, you add one pot of water, and it will rotate from what is already in the machine.

This saves you so much time in the morning because the water is already preheated (if you keep the coffee maker plugged in).

If you’re like me and don’t want the coffee maker plugged in all day but want the perk of preheated water, you can get these energy-saving outlet plugs.

I use these plugs for my coffee maker and set it so it automatically kicks on early in the morning before I get up and shuts off at 10 a.m. (when I would have already made my coffee).

Differences in Bunn Coffee Makers

My mother was the one to introduce me to Bunn coffee makers. She has this coffee maker, which consists of a stainless-steel carafe vs mine which is glass. I wanted the glass one because the machine is white, and I LOVE the look. It is the perfect addition to my coffee station.

After having used mine for 2 years and knowing how both machines run, I admit I like hers slightly better. I still love my Bunn coffee maker, but hers takes the slight edge for a few reasons. I have listed them below.

Stainless Steel Carafe vs. Glass

First and foremost, my coffee cools down way faster because it’s a glass carafe vs. insulated stainless steel. Now, I do have the edge in the aspect of having a heated element where the carafe sits. So, technically if I had that turned on, my coffee would stay warm, but I intentionally keep it off, and I’ll explain why in the next point.

How the Carafe Sits on the Pedestal

So, this is the main reason why I favor my mother’s coffee maker. The pedestal on her coffee machine has guards, so it sits exactly underneath the filter portion of the machine. Mine also has guards, but there is more room to position the carafe. This is an issue because if the pot is not centered exactly underneath the coffee filter, it spills. It’s not a lot, but it is enough to be annoying and damage the furniture if you do not take care of it right away.

For this reason, I don’t typically turn on the heated element because if there is any residual coffee that spilled, it will stick.

As a result, whenever I brew coffee, I make sure the carafe is lined up exactly otherwise it will spill.
