Now that we are approaching the warmer weather, I am excited to sit outside on my screened-in porch! The screened-in porch is my favorite room in the house that I am renting. I spend a lot of time on the screened-in porch, so I have compiled a list of 7 ways to create a cozy living space outside.

Create a Cozy Living Space Outside in 7 Ways

I love to sit on the porch in the morning with a cup of coffee and feel the sun on my face. Or, in the evenings, my husband and I eat dinner on the porch. As I said previously, this is my favorite spot in the house, so I will walk you through the 7 ways I create a cozy outside living space.

Add Some Outdoor Seating to your Outdoor Living Space

These chairs were already at the house when my husband and I moved in, and I LOVE the lounge chair! I typically sit in the lounge chair because I can spread my legs out, and the back part adjusts. If you want a cozy outdoor living space, you will need to add some places to sit!

Add a Table or Create One

Tables go hand-in-hand with the seats. I have an actual table and a decorative box to the side of the bench as a small table. Having tables allows you to put stuff down like food or drinks. If you are like me and want to work outside on those beautiful days, having a table on your screened-in porch allows you to do that!

Put up the Lights!

Adding string lights is a must-have if you anticipate spending time on your porch in the evenings. Any light, including string lights or a lantern, adds a cozy vibe. Believe me, you will not regret adding them!

Add Some Pillows and a Rug to your Screened Porch

Add some pillows or a rug to your outdoor living space! Adding these extra textures will give the signature touch that your screened-in porch needs to feel cozy. I like these pillows because they complement the color of the seating cushion and the tablecloth.

Play the Music!

For those who don’t know, my Memere and Pepere built this house in the 70s. My Pepere was not only a social butterfly but ahead of his time when he added built-in speakers on the porch! But regardless, if you are playing music from a portable speaker, or playing music on a guitar as my husband does, adding music will help you achieve that cozy feeling.

Lastly, add some green! I am always an advocate of adding greenery to a room. There’s just something about how plants make a room feel clean and fresh, and a porch is no different. So, add a plant as the 7th way to create a cozy living space outside!

Brittany, yes they still work! We don’t use them as often as my Memere and Pepere did because my husband has his own set-up (he went to school for music) but every once in a while we’ll take advantage of it!
